Photograph parakeets, grey herons and other iconic urban wildlife in the heart of London!
W O R K S H O P O V E R V I E W
During this 3.5 hour workshop you'll have the opportunity to photograph many species of bird at very close range in a fun and creative setting.
The day will begin with a brief introduction on wildlife/flora we should find and tips on photographing birds in pose and flight.
We will then head into Regents Park to photograph iconic London species such as friendly Grey Herons, courting Great-Crested Grebes, many species of duck such as Pochard and Mandarin, and Ring-Necked Parakeet flocks. Bird activity is highest in the morning and the lakes are often shrouded in wonderful mists, allowing possibilities for beautiful images. We may even see the Tawny or Little Owls which roost in the park's oak trees or a Kingfisher on the Serpentine.
The workshop is led by Paul Collins, a professional wildlife photographer and tv cameraman. With images awarded in the British Wildlife Photography Awards and Scottish Nature Photography Awards, his images showcase the amazing diversity of wildlife found in our cities.
Paul will offer practical guidance and tuition throughout the morning, and there will be plenty of 1-on-1 learning opportunities for both beginners and intermediate photographers.
Each attendee can receive detailed email feedback on their photos after the workshop.

Travel
Participants should make their own arrangements for transport to venue. Upon booking, a map meeting point position will be sent. Baker's Street tube station is the nearest station, a 5 minute walk from our meeting point, and is served by the Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith, City, Jubilee and Metropolitan Lines.
Walking
Light gentle walking on flat terrain. Please contact me beforehand to discuss suitability and if you have any mobility issues.
Food & Facilities
There is a cafe and toilet facilities by the boating lake in the park.
Group Size & Tuition
With a maximum of 5 participants, our small group size ensures everyone has a better personal experience. I will be on hand to answer your questions and help you with observing animals whatever your skillset.
Photo Gear
This workshop will suit you whatever your gear and skillset - the plan will adapt for you whether you have an iPhone or the latest lens on the market. For your best enjoyment, I recommend that you bring a bridge or DSLR camera with a zoom lens in the 75-300mm range; longer lenses are good for flight shots. A wider lens (e.g. 10-35mm) can be great for ducklings, herons and flowers. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Clothing
It is important that participants wear appropriate clothing for the season and activities. A recommended kit list will be sent upon sign-up.
