About the exhibition

Spectrum is about images unified under one roof by their individual and collective recognition of colour, form, technique and subject matter. Most of all though, it is an appreciation of nature in all of its brilliance.

About the photographer

I started wildlife photography at the age of 14 in 2005, having gone down a long and exploratory line of drawing, filming and writing about the wildlife in my area. Winning a prize in the WWT Photography Competition that year got me passionate about picking up a camera - my dad's in fact, and he's barely seen it since! - and going off in search of animals big and small. Since then, I have had successes in a number of national and international competitions, and have also been a committee member of the Edinburgh University Photographic Society, but this is my first independent exhibition and something that I've been really looking forward to doing for quite some time.

Garden and macro photography is very much my main passion, and so my garden pond in Normandy remains my firm favourite place for photography. There are so many frogs, newts and dragonflies that it is never hard to find something of interest - the real challenge is to photograph them well and in an interesting way. As I live in Edinburgh and London for most of the year however, many of the pictures you'll see in this exhibition are from around there, with a very small handful also coming from overseas trips.

I hope you enjoy the exhibition and thanks for coming,

Paul
