Although this wouldn't immediately strike someone as having been taken at a landscape photography class, for me it isn't just a photograph of a bird. The impressionistic quality of the water and of the two black lines which frame the eider duck - these are reflections of the Forth Bridge - are just as important as the bird, which is there to offer a little contrast.
