One of the main focuses of my talk for the Edinburgh University Photographic Society was texture and form. I loved how the walnut had such a brittle and tough 'armour', but I wanted to accentuate it by breaking it into two halves. I then shone a light directly across its front side to give it a slightly metallic sheen, converting to black and white in post-processing to emphasise all of these things.
