02. Paper Garlic

Edinburgh, UK

21st November 2009

The Edinburgh University Photographic Society asked me to do a talk on macro photography. I spent the most part of the evening before assembling a slide show, only to realise how few photographs I had to illustrate my points. So I made a quick trip to the supermarket to buy garlic, nuts and mushrooms, and made a makeshift 'studio' in my university accommodation: two sheets of paper stuck to my desk, with a bedside lamp providing side-lighting. The arrangement worked well, particularly with producing images of intimacy and mood such as with this garlic.
